Dr. Matthew Griffith is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care to patients with sports injuries and disorders of the shoulder, upper extremity and knee.
Dr. Griffith attended Duke University for his undergraduate education and received his M.D. from the University of Oklahoma. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery (Cornell University) in New York City. Subsequently, he received fellowship training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard University) where he served as an assistant team physician for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins.
Dr. Griffith is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care for patients with sports injuries and athletic, traumatic, and degenerative disorders. His expertise includes: minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, elbow and knee; reconstructive surgery including total shoulder and reverse shoulder replacements; and the utilization of noninvasive procedures for injuries, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections.
In addition to his work at Arthritis & Sports, Dr. Griffith is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Griffith is dedicated to caring for athletes in the area and is currently team physician for the Potomac Falls Panthers and Park View Patriots high school football teams.
