Gregory Bernstein, MD, FACS – Urology

Dr. Gregory Bernstein is a board certified urologist with Virginia Hospital Center Physician Group. He attended Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, MA and graduated in 1998. Prior to attending medical school, he also earned a Master of Arts in Medical Science from Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, MA in 1994.

Having attended medical school on a Health Professions Scholarship from the US Army, Dr. Bernstein went on to do his internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC. Following internship, he spent two years as a General Medical Officer. Dr Bernstein then returned to Walter Reed Army Medical Center where he completed his urology residency in June of 2006.

Following residency, Dr. Bernstein was assigned to Dewitt Army Hospital, Fort Belvoir, VA where he served as the Chief, Urology for 5 years. During this time he was named as an Assistant Professor of Surgery, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD. In addition to practicing at Dewitt Army Hospital, Dr. Bernstein held privileges and actively practiced urology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Malcolm Grow Medical Center.

In June 2011, Dr. Bernstein resigned his commission from the US Army in order to join the Virginia Hospital Center Physician Group Urology. Dr Bernstein is currently a member of the Virginia Hospital Center medical staff. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Urological Association and the Mid-Atlantic Section of the American Urological Association, and the Washington Urological Society.

Dr. Bernstein has authored many journal articles and meeting abstracts and has lectured locally on various urological topics. In addition to his general urological expertise, Dr. Bernstein also has extensive experience with vasectomy reversal and male infertility.
