Daniel J. Cuttica is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, with fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery. He has medical staff privileges at Inova Fairfax and Fair Oaks Hospitals, Virginia Hospital Center, as well as McLean Surgery Center, and Advanced Surgery Center of Bethesda.
Dr. Cuttica has been voted by his peers as a Northern Virginia Magazine “Top Doctor” from 2017-2020. Recently, he was awarded the “Center of Excellence” designation for 3-dimensional bunion correction. He was also the recipient of the Robert L. Green award, which is awarded annually to the member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics who achieved the highest combined score in the written and oral orthopedic surgery board certification exams. He has also been awarded for his groundbreaking research on MRI evaluation following surgical treatment of cartilage injuries in the ankle.
Dr. Cuttica has extensive experience in treatment of both common and complex disorders of the foot and ankle. His clinical interests include all aspects of foot and ankle reconstruction, including cartilage disorders and restoration, total ankle replacement, sports-related foot and ankle injuries, dance medicine, arthroscopy and minimally invasive procedures, forefoot reconstruction, and diabetic limbs. He His goal is to minimize the recovery time associated with foot and ankle surgery.
He is a Core Clinical Team Member and orthopaedic consultant for The Washington Ballet. He is the author of numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, which includes extensive research on the treatment and outcomes of cartilage disorders of the ankle. Other topics include novel techniques to treat complex foot and ankle deformity, surgical treatment of foot fractures, total ankle replacement techniques o harvest bone graft for hindfoot bone fusion, , surgical treatment of various foot fractures, and the use of a new implant for hammertoe correction that does not require the use of pins. Dr. Cuttica has presented his research and regularly lectures at national orthopaedic conferences.
Currently, Dr. Cuttica is also actively involved in education. He is the co-director of the foot & ankle fellowship at the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Center. He is also a reviewer for the peer-reviewed journals Foot and Ankle International and Foot and Ankle Specialist. In addition, he serves on the editorial board for www.footeducation.com, an educational website peer-reviewed by orthopaedic surgeons with fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery.
Dr. Cuttica received his medical degree at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Doctors Hospital/Grant Medical Center in Columbus, OH. This was followed by completion of the prestigious foot and ankle fellowship at the Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Center in Columbus, OH, where he had extensive training in all aspects of foot and ankle reconstruction, including total ankle replacement.
Dr. Cuttica is an actively involved member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics.
Dr. Cuttica resides in Falls Church, VA. He is an avid runner, and enjoys golf and fishing. However, what he most enjoys is spending his free time with his wife and 2 children.
