Before Surgery

  • A nurse from ASC Bethesda will contact you prior to your procedure to review your health history. You will be given pre-operative instructions.
  • Do not eat or drink after midnight the night prior to your procedure, including no mints, hard candy, gum or chewing tobacco. As a parent/guardian, enforce the same guidelines for pediatric patients. Failure to follow our dietary restrictions may result in the cancellation of your procedure.
  • Do not take aspirin or aspirin products/anti-inflammatory medications (aleve, motrin, ibuprofen, advil) for seven (7) days prior to your procedure. Tylenol is acceptable.
  • Daily Medications may be taken with a small sip of water unless otherwise instructed.
  • Pediatric patients may bring a favorite stuffed animal or security blanket for added assurance.
