A. Brion Gardner

Dr. Gardner is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has received additional subspecialty certification by the same board in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has extensive training in arthroscopic surgery (ankle, knee, and shoulder), total joint replacement (hip, knee, and shoulder), fracture care, and war extremity injuries. Dr Gardner has experience and is interested in treating pediatric, adolescent and adult patients. He has a particular interest in arthroscopic reconstruction of the knee including the ACL, cartilage restoration procedures and meniscal transplants. His other subspecialty interests include arthroscopic reconstruction of the shoulder to include rotator cuff repair and shoulder stabilization. Dr. Gardner is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and has received several military awards including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his care of critically wounded Marines and Navy Sailors injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Gardner’s last assignment in the Navy was as the Department Head of Orthopaedics at the Naval Hospital Camp LeJeune on Marine Corps Base Camp LeJeune in North Carolina. Dr. Gardner is enthusiastic about all sports, fitness and wellness. He has been a contributor to WashingtonPost.com in the NFL Forum “The League” writing a weekly analysis of sports injuries. He has also been a guest expert on NFL satellite radio discussing various injury related issues of collegiate and professional football players. He actively plays golf, goes offshore fishing, and runs marathons.
